Import vinyl LP pressing. 2016 release from the British band fronted by Martin Fry, a sequel to their 1982 debut album. The album's sound recalls the band's classic early hits with a modern twist. The lyrics deal with many of the same subjects as on the first album, although they are now sung from the point of view of a man three decades older and wiser. Lexicon Of Love II is an all-new album and does not feature re-recordings of songs from the original album. Includes the single 'Viva Love'. Universal.

With All the Nations Airports, originally released in 1996, Archers of Loaf were uncompromising in their efforts to push themselves in new directions. They delivered an album that included some of the more simple indie pop songs that had made them famous as well as four instrumental tracks, layered tape loops and even a solo piano song, but the song structures became much more complex. These songs provided a wide range of color and emotion but somehow none of the songs seemed out of place on the album. Album artwork re-imagined by Ian Dingman.

In his new liner notes for this re-issue, David Fricke calls High Land, Hard Rain "ten songs of anxious yearning, romantic urgency, big hurt and hard-won learning, distilled into compact dramas of buckskin-folk jangle and skewed-pop elegance." We call it the one of the greatest debut albums in the history of rock 'n' roll. That it was written and conceived by mastermind Roddy Frame when he was NINETEEN YEARS OLD, well that just defies all logic and sense of fair play. Completely remastered from the analog tapes this deluxe 30th anniversary edition of High Land, Hard Rain will not disappoint.

MP3 Album: $9.99 Download

Vinyl LP repressing. BLIND MELON was the eponymous debut album by acclaimed rock band Blind Melon, released in 1992, featuring breakthrough single 'No Rain'. Fronted by singer Shannon Hoon (who can be heard doing backing vocals on Guns N Roses' Use Your Illusion I and II) Blind Melon had a distinctive sound, influenced by Southern Rock and Psychedelic Rock. Songs like 'Soak the Sin' and 'Tones of Home' evoke Hard Rock with a funky sound; 'Time' resembles Grateful Dead-style improvisational music and acoustic songs like 'Change' and 'No Rain' hinted at Pop and Folk influences. The band recorded the bulk of the album with producer Rick Parashar (who had produced Pearl Jam's 'Ten') at London Bridge Studio in Seattle, Washington. Blind Melon's production is marked by the use of outdated amplifiers and other antiquated studio technology. Modern studio effects were not used in it's production as the band wanted to create a pure and intimate sounding record.

Limited vinyl repressing of this classic album by the New Wave icons led by Debbie Harry. Blondie was the eponymous debut album released in December 1976. The first single "X Offender" was originally entitled "Sex Offender" but since radio stations would not play a song with such a controversial title, the band renamed the song. After disappointing sales and poor publicity, the band ended their contract with Private Stock and signed with Chrysalis Records in 1977. Chrysalis re-released the album in September 1977, along with the single "In the Flesh". The album reached #14 in Australia, where the band had already had a Top 3 hit with "In the Flesh". The album also charted at #75 in the UK in early 1979, where the band had become immensely popular.

The song that burst Blondie out of the streets of the Bowery to #1 on the charts, "Heart of Glass" was the pivotal moment in punk's choreographed slamdance with the mainstream. Explored and exploded via six distinct versions remastered from the original analog tapes, the history of "Heart of Glass" is documented here in a copious essay and it's art reimagined by noted American illustrator Shepard Fairey.

The Fall

45 84 89 A Sides [LP]

Vinyl: $26.98 UNAVAILABLE

FIRST EVER US VINYL PRESSING CONTAINING CLASSIC SINGLES FROM 1984-1989 • WHITE VINYL • FULL COLOR INNER SLEEVE The seventeen songs collected here come from The Fall’s Brix Smith era, aka “the golden era of Fall releases.” This is a perfect introduction to the band, and as legendary critic Robert Christgau said, it’s “The only Fall record any normal person need own”. Originally released in 1990, this album has never been released on vinyl in the US, and isn’t easy to find elsewhere. The band’s legendary and notorious frontman Mark E. Smith passed away earlier this year at the age of 60. The band’s output since they formed at the height of the punk rock movement in Manchester in 1976 was prolific to say the least. It’s hard to be exact, but in their four decades, The Fall released 31 studio albums, 5 part-studio/part live albums, 32 live albums, 40 compilations, and Mark E. Smith also released two spoken word albums. Another high number is that of former members of The Fall. There were over 60 different band members over the years. Their high volume of quality work over the last 40+ years had an enormous influence which was extolled greatly after his death. “Smith’s work was the manna that gave a certain cross-section of music culture sustenance for 40 years.” - Pitchfork “Part musical hypnotist, part ranting madman, Smith was a singular figure in post-punk. His Mancunian accent, dry witticisms and plays on words were one of the Fall’s most constant characteristics. Their songs were odysseys into his ever-verbose psyche, marked by repetitive rhythms and melodies.” – Rolling Stone “At various points in the band’s four-decade career, the Fall might sound like punk, hard rock, psychedelia, funk, blues-rock, jazz-rock, electropop or sheer noise. “If it’s me and your granny on bongos, it’s the Fall,” Mr. Smith once declared. The BBC disc jockey John Peel, an early and steadfast supporter, said of the Fall that ‘they are always different, they are always the same.’” - The New York Times

Solid Red 140 G vinyl editon, gatefold, printed inner sleeve. The album remastered for the very first time , with Roland Gift's involvement. Includes download card, featuring the album + 29 rare/unreleased tracks (B Sides, live, remixes). "When Dave Wakeling and Ranking Roger split from the rest of the English Beat to form General Public, Andy Cox and Dave Steele originally advertised on MTV for a new lead singer for the Beat. When that didn't pan out (although it did work for Wall of Voodoo), Cox and Steele hooked up with the unique and soulful singer Roland Gift and formed the Fine Young Cannibals. Though the trio ?rst hit the mass U.S. consciousness with 1989's electronic dance-pop The Raw and the Cooked, their 1985 debut was a soul-jazz pop charmer that's more low-key but every bit as entertaining. Along the lines of early Everything But the Girl (the two groups share a producer, Robin Millar) with a heavier Motown in?uence, the songs on Fine Young Cannibals are uniformly strong. The singles 'Johnny Come Home' (a plea to a runaway that sounds like the Beat's ska stripped down to its tense and obsessive essentials) and 'Blue' (one of the more oblique and successful antiMargaret Thatcher tracks of its era) are terri?c, but album tracks like the casually devastating 'Funny How Love Is' and the manic 'Like a Stranger' (which incongruously ends with a female chorus shrieking 'You've been too long in an institution!' repeatedly while Gift tries out his Otis Redding impression) are even better. The album's highlight, though, is a reworking of 'Suspicious Minds' (with scarifying backing vocals by Jimmy Somerville) that, while it doesn't replace Elvis' version, certainly takes the song into an interesting new direction. Although often overlooked, especially in the U.S., in the wake of their massively successful follow-up, Fine Young Cannibals is a powerful and satisfying debut."

Fine Young Cannibals had talent to burn -- guitarist Andy Cox and multi-instrumentalist David Steele were veterans of the English Beat, and front man Roland Gift was a vocalist as distinctive as Sam Cooke or Al Green -- and 1989's The Raw and The Cooked shows the UK trio going out in style. The second and ?nal FYC studio album neatly balances such retro-soul numbers as "Good Thing" and such Prince-in?uenced dance cuts as "She Drives Me Crazy." Both of those tracks became No.1 hits, and the remaining songs (all original except for a convincing cover of Buzzcocks' "Ever Fallen In Love") are also single-worthy. A double-Platinum smash, The Raw and The Cooked remains among the most listenable albums of the 1980s. Includes the hits "She Drives Me Crazy", "Good Thing", "I'm Not The Man I Used To Be". Features 22 bonus rare/ unreleased tracks -- B sides, and also remixes by David Z, Ploeg Club, Dimitri From Paris Seth Troxler, Prince Paul, Youth, and Arthur Baker.

I Assassin [Colored Vinyl] (Grn)

Vinyl: $26.98 UNAVAILABLE
Originally released in 1982, I, Assassin is Gary Numan's sixth studio album and fourth under his own name. Combining fretless bass with heavy rock drumming, Numan further refined his dark, sparse, funky-electro style, mixing it with impenetrable, slurred vocals. Numan recorded and wrote most of the music between January and March 1982, following his infamous round-the-world trip in a light aircraft and a near-death crash onto a British road while co-piloting a spiralling Cessna. Three of the album's songs made it into the UK top 20. According to Numan, who was still only 24-years-old at the time, "the round- the-world flight, the plane crash, these were big things that helped me shape a new opinion of myself. Those experiences gave me a self-confidence, a genuine strength that I hadn't had before." Twenty years later, the singer enthused, "I still think it's one of the best albums I've made." I, Assassin's heavily percussive approach led to several tracks becoming unexpected intruders on American dancefloors, notably the 12" single of "Music For Chameleons" and a specially re- mixed U.S. version of "White Boys And Heroes." Electro pioneer Afrika Bambaataa enthused about Numan's style in this era: "Kraftwerk and Gary Numan were special to me because they made funk music. It's all related - Sly Stone, James Brown, George Clinton, Bootsy Collins, Kraftwerk and Gary Numan. In the late '70s and early '80s Gary had the rhythms that DJs wanted to get hold of and people waited for his records on the dance floor." I, Assassin stands out as a record fiercely propelled by powerful rhythms in songs laced with an earthy cynicism.

Replicas [Vinyl]

Vinyl: $25.98 UNAVAILABLE
By the release of their second album, Replicas, Gary Numan was the undisputed focal point and leader of icy electro-punkers Tubeway Army. And the move proved to be massively successful back home in the U.K., where both the album and the single “Are ‘Friends’ Electric?” topped the charts. The band had made a conscious effort to streamline the sound heard on its 1978 self-titled debut -- the distorted guitar riffs were played on Moog synthesizers instead, and Numan had perfected his faux-space-age persona. And the paranoia that is very evident in the lyrics and vocals on Numan’s next release, The Pleasure Principle, can be detected on Replicas. Another near-perfect album by the band, highlights are many -- “Me! I Disconnect from You,” “The Machman,” “You Are in My Vision,” and the chilling ballad “Down in the Park.”

Welcome to Wherever You Are is the band's eighth album and was released in 1992. It boasts the singles Heaven Sent, Taste It, Baby Don't Cry and Beautiful Girl. Of course - it was a time grunge and alternative breaking into the mainstream, INXS tried to establish a new direction for itself, la U2 and Achtung Baby incorporating sitars, a 60-piece orchestra, and a much more "raw" sound to their music. In it's four star review of the album, Q called it "... a far more engaging and heartfelt collection than anything the group has put out in recent memory... It rocks," and listed it as one of the 50 Best Albums of 1992.

Limited double 180 gram vinyl LP pressing in gatefold jacket. Joe Jackson's debut single, 'Is She Really Going Out With Him?', was not an immediate hit; however, by the time his debut album Look Sharp! Was released, the song had reached charts in the U.K. and U.S., earning him a gold record. For the follow-up, he produced the top 5 hit 'It's Different For Girls', Joe received the highest musical accolade of the Netherlands, the Edison Award. After two edgy new wave pop records, his next tracks included some reggae influences such as the tracks 'One to One' and 'Mad At You', while Jumpin' Jive - recorded with jazz musicians - was full of old jump blues and swing tunes. The huge commercial success came with his crafted pop songs 'Steppin' Out' and jazzy 'Breaking Us In Two' climbing the charts worldwide. Joe Jackson produced even jazzier hits in 1984 such as 'Happy Ending', (a duet with Elaine Caswell), 'Be My Number Two' and 'You Can't Get What You Want'. The album Big World (1986), a live album of entirely new material including 'Home Town', was recorded during six concerts. It is not a regular live album though, the audience was asked to be quiet during the songs and the applause was edited out. The pop song 'Nineteen Forever' was part of a larger construction from the album Blaze Of Glory, designed to tell a semi-autobiographical story. In 1991 Joe Jackson decided to abandon pop once and for all in favor of more serious music. It spawned the track 'Stranger Than Fiction'. Joe Jackson - collected is a comprehensive series of sounds Joe Jackson has gone through, from old to new, this collection will never get boring!

Fool [LP]

Vinyl: $19.98 UNAVAILABLE

MP3 Album: $7.99 Download

Following the 2015 release of the critically acclaimed Fast Forward , legendary songwriter Joe Jackson is releasing the 20th studio album of his career. 'Fool' is the fulfilment of a career-long dream: to finish a tour and head straight into the studio with the band firing on all cylinders. So, on July 29th, Joe wrapped up his 2018 summer tour at The Eqyptian Theater in Boise, Idaho and the following day set up shop at Tonic Room Studios in town. The album was co-produced by Jackson and producer Pat Dillett (David Byrne, Sufjan Stevens, Glen Hansard, etc.) The band in question was the same group that Jackson has played live with ever since the release of Fast Forward : Teddy Kumpel on guitar, Doug Yowell on drums, and long-time collaborator Graham Maby on bass (Maby was on that first recording session 40 years ago as well). The Fast Forward Tour took on a life of its own and enjoyed several encores over the last 3 years with the band ultimately playing 103 shows together during that time span.

A collection of theme songs and featured tunes from a variety of exploitation films from the '60s and '70s, Josie Cotton'S Invasion of the B-Girls is a one-of-a-kind album. The LP boasts liner notes from director John Waters, who knows more about this film genre than anyone. His own song, "Female Trouble," (from the film of the same name) is prominently featured, and will also be the advance digital single to the vinyl LP, helping to raise awareness about the album. The track features the TOWER OF POWER horns; other featured musicians throughout include David Kendrick (DEVO, SPARKS), Paul Roessler (SCREAMERS, TWISTED ROOTS), Geza X, Kenny Lyon and many others. While the movies that are highlighted are often considered low-budget affairs, the production value of these versions take many of these numbers to a new level. Among the songs on the LP are "Maneaters (Get off the Road)" from Herschell Gordon Lewis' female biker flick She Devils on Wheels, "Run Pussy Cat" from Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill! And "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls," both Russ Meyer exploitation classics. The theme songs from The Girl in Gold Boots, Green Slime and Black Klansman (the Ted V. Mikels film, not Spike Lee's) are all on board and delivered with expected Josie panache. Two songs from the giant Japanese monster genre, "Goodbye Godzilla" and "Shiawaseo Yobou" are also lovingly rendered. This release follows recent vinyl releases on Sympathy for the Record Industry (new single "Ukrainian Cowboy" and Cleopatra Records (Everything is Oh Yeah LP), and precedes summer reissues of the classic '80s hits Convertible Music and From the Hip, both previously on Elektra Records. Josie will also be lensing a promotional video for "Female Trouble" alongside the release of Invasion of the B-Girls.
